Engagement Scope

The Sutor Group was engaged by Aldrich and Associates and two subcontractors to prepare a price proposal for equitable adjustment with respect to various changes that occurred on the project. Our claim quantification impacts totaled $523,173.

Project description

Restoration of the National Park Inn at Longmire, Mt. Rainier, Washington. This included the partial demolition of the main building and the total demolition of the old kitchen wing. The main building was then rebuild, including a new foundation, new interior finishes, and a new roof. A new kitchen wing was added along with additional guest rooms, new utilities and new landscaping.

Entitlement issues

The contractor encountered asbestos in excess of the amount shown in the contract plans causing operations to be delayed. There were also numerous changed conditions on the project involving framing, site excavation, and furring of the ceiling. The government also accelerated the project causing labor inefficiencies and overtime.
