Inter-Island Airfield Aprons and Taxiways, Phase I

Honolulu International Airport

Owner: Honolulu Port Authority

Client Name: Kasler Corporation

Engagement Scope

The Sutor Group was engaged by Kasler's attorney, Erik Eike, to critique a claim that was submitted to Kasler by Frank Coluccio Construction Co. Frank Coluccio Construction was a subcontractor on a project at the Honolulu International Airport on which Kasler was the prime contractor. Our claim computation indicates damage impacts of $66,300 as opposed to $338,300 as submitted by Coluccio Construction.

Project description

Although this airport improvement project was significant in size, Coluccio performed a relatively small portion of the contract work. Coluccio's work was limited to the installation of storm drainage pipe ranging from 24 inches to 60 inches in diameter.

Entitlement issues

The entitlement issues involved responsibility for the cost impacts resulting from redesign on the drainage system which was installed by Coluccio.

Type of impacts

Coluccio asked for the following type of impacts; lost profits, delays costs, acceleration costs, additional labor and equipment for extra work, interest cost, claim preparation and unpaid retention.
